Terms of use
Updated 23 October 2026
Madaf is run by Noam Raz. Using the app and this site is subject to these terms and to the privacy policy. By using Madaf you agree to them.
The service
Madaf helps you catalogue your books and find readers nearby to swap with, give to or lend to. Madaf does not buy, sell or deliver books: the swap itself happens directly between readers, who are responsible for it. The service is free.
Who can use it
- People aged 18 and over.
- One account per person, with your own email address. You are responsible for everything done from your account.
- You may not pretend to be someone else, or open an account for someone who was blocked.
What is and isn't allowed
- Offer only books you own, and describe their condition fairly.
- Madaf is for swapping between readers, not for trade: no selling books, advertising or spam.
- No harassment, threats, insults, or offensive, sexual or illegal content.
- No collecting data about other users, no bots, and no attempts to get around privacy or security features.
- No infringing books (such as illegal copies) and no items that are not books.
Meetings, swaps and loans
- Meet in a public place; you never need to share a phone number or address. If something feels wrong, skip the meeting and report it.
- Madaf does not check books or readers, and is not responsible for a book's condition, a book that never arrived, or a loan that was not returned.
- When both sides confirm "Swap done", the books move between them in the app as well. Don't confirm before the book has really changed hands.
- On a loan, the book stays its owner's, and the borrower agrees to return it in reasonable condition at the agreed time.
What you add
Book details you add to the catalogue (title, author, publisher, year, barcode) become part of a shared catalogue used by all readers. By adding them you allow Madaf to use and show these details, also after you delete your account. Private notes, your personal library and your messages stay yours and are handled under the privacy policy.
Blocking, reporting and suspension
You can block or report a reader from any swap. We may remove content, or limit or suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk, in serious cases without prior notice.
Availability and liability
The service is provided as is, with no promise that it will always work or be free of faults. Export your library from time to time. To the extent the law allows, Madaf and its operator are not liable for indirect damage, or for damage arising from a meeting, swap or loan between readers.
Ending
You can stop at any time and delete your account in the app (Profile → My data). We may also stop or change the service, and will tell you in advance about a significant change.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we will update the date here, and tell you in the app or by email about a significant change. Using Madaf after a change means you accept it.
Law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Israeli law. The competent courts in Tel Aviv-Jaffa have jurisdiction over any matter concerning them.
